Brief Description of Project:

The Project has 19 physical investment subprojects to provide improved wastewater collection and treatment and water supplies in about 15 project cities. The Project will also provide capacity building and training for the Project institutions, focusing on water supply/wastewater companies at the county level.

Brief Description of Goods and Related Services, Works or Consulting Services to be Procured and related justification for advance action:

To meet the target of construction of wastewater collection and water supply systems by 2007, six project counties have initiated the early rehabilitation of pumping stations, construction of sewers, rehabilitation of water distribution systems, and the procurement of construction materials. Early recruitment of domestic and international consultants is necessary to support these works. The cost of the advance works is estimated at $17 million equivalent, comprising $8 million foreign exchange cost and $9 million equivalent local cost. The advance procurement action and retroactive financing amount to $8 million.
