This Invitation for Prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the "ADB Business Opportunities" in June 2003.

The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Emergency Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Project.

The Afghanistan Reconstruction and Development Services-Procurement Unit (ARDS-PU), acting on behalf of the Ministry of Mines and Industries (MMI) of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (hereinafter referred to as the "Employer") intends to prequalify firms for the following contracts under this project:

Contract No. 1 - Gas Well Rehabilitation and Supply of Process Plant
Contract No. 2 - Transmission and Distribution Systems Rehabilitation

An electronic version of the Prequalification Document, in English language, will be available by application to the ARDS-PU email address.

To apply for prequalification, deliver your application to the above address before the deadline: 1200 hours on 12 August 2005. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late applications.

The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications.

The Employer will send all applicants a list of those who prequalify for the contract.

Prequalified bidders can expect to receive invitations for bids in September 2005.
