Contract: Rehabilitation of the Maritime Aids
System for the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Phase 3 Civil Works
Deadline for Bids: 20 October 2005 The Independent State of Papua New Guinea has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Rehabilitation of the Maritime Navigation Aids System Project, and it is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for the rehabilitation of the Maritime Aids System for the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Phase 3 Civil Works. The Department of Transport, the Employer, now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction and completion of the Maritime Navigation Aids System Project, Phase 3 involving:
- rehabilitation and maintenance of supporting structures at 35 sites
- installation of 5 concrete-decked three-pile structures and associated supporting navaids towers
- erection of 3 GRP (glass reinforced plastic) towers on concrete bases
- installation of 10 single pile structures
- placement of 2 plastic buoys
- installation of new aids to navigation equipment at all of the above sites, in Sandaun, E.Sepik, Madang, Morobe, Oro, Central, and Western provinces as, described in the bidding documents.

- pay of a non-refundable fee of US$200 in cashiers' check payable to Papua New Guinea Central Supply and Tender's Board.
- Minimum average annual construction turnover of US$6.0 million calculated as total certified payments received for contracts in progress or completed, within the last 3 years.
- Experience under construction contracts in the role of contractor, subcontractor, or management contractor for at least the last 4 years prior to the bid submission deadline; and
- Participation as contractor, management contractor, or subcontractor, in at least 2 contracts within the last 3 years each with a value of at least US$2.0 million that have been successfully or are substantially completed and that are similar to the proposed works. The similarity shall be based on the physical size, complexity, methods, technology or other characteristics as described in the bidding document.
