Invitation for Bids
1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of West Zone Power System Development Project (WZPSDP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for Procurement of Capacitor Bank/Contract no.12.
2. The West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Procurement of Capacitor Bank (100 Nos.).
3. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.
4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the address given below from Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs BST.
5. The bidding document, in English language may be purchased starting from 8 June 2006 by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee Tk.5,000/-(Taka Five thousand only) or of US$75/-(US Dollar Seventy five only). The method of payment will be in the form of Demand Draft or Pay Order in favor of Project Director, 5-Town Power Distribution System Development Project of WZPDCL. The document may be sent by courier for an additional fee of Tk5,000.00 or an equivalent US$ in favor of The Project Director . No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.
6. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 11:00 hrs BST on 27 July 2006. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of US$16,000/-(Equivalent BD Tk. 11,25,000/-). Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 11:30 hrs BST on 27 July 2006.
7. The West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WZPDCL) will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.
8. To compare the bids, ADB's domestic preference scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the instructions to bidders.
