1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Road Network Improvement and Maintenance Project-II (RNIMP-II).

2. The Roads & Highways Department (RHD), the Employer, intends to prequalify eligible firms for the Road Improvement component of the Project which includes improvement of 83.2 km of national highway, 15 km of regional highway and 142 km of district roads in Dhaka, Chittagong, Mymensingh and Rangpur regions of Bangladesh in four contracts:

3. It is expected that the Invitation for bids will be made available by the end of September 2006.

4. Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information and inspect the Prequalification Document at the address given below between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.

5. The Prequalification Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Tk 6,000 or US$100. The method of payment will be by bank draft or pay order payable on any scheduled Bank in favor of the Project Director, RHD, RNIMP-II. If requested, documents will be sent by registered air mail (mailing cost to be added with the document cost). No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

6. Applications must be delivered to the address below on or before 3 August 2006 with the envelopes clearly marked " Application for Prequalification for Civil Works under Road Improvement Component of Road Network Improvement and Maintenance Project - II"

7. The Employer will not be responsible for costs or expensse incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late applications.

8. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing those who have been prequalified.
