1. This Invitation for Prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project thatappeared in the "ADB Business Opportunities" on 9 November 2005.

2. India has applied a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Uttaranchal Power Sector Investment Program.

3. Uttaranchal Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (hereinafter referred to as the "Employer") intends to prequalify firms for the following contract(s) under this project for design, procurement and construction of 2X5000 kW Madhyamaheshwar Small Hydropower Plant in Uttaranchal state of India.

4. It is expected that the Invitation for Bids will be made in August 2006.

5. Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information from the office of the GM-, SHP, UJVNL and inspect the Prequalification Document at the address given below, from 10.00 to 17.00 hours.

6. The Prequalification Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested Applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Rs. 10,000.00 or in US $ 220.00 plus 10% Trade Tax. The method of payment will be through bank draft in favour of UJVNL bank account No.3968002100011652 in Punjab National Bank, Yamuna Colony, Dehradun. The document will be sent by speed post or courier. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery. 7. Applications must be delivered to the address below at or before 15.00 hours on 19 June 2006. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late applications

8. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications.

9. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified.
