The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Power Sector Development Project, and it is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Bids is issued.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and delivery of the following:

International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope procedure and is open to bidders from eligible source countries.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from CEB and inspect the Bidding Document at the office address given below from 09.00 hours to 15.00 hours up to 30th May 2005.

To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should:
  • write to the address below
  • pay of a non-refundable fee of Rs.2000/= or US$ 20/= in cash/money order or bank draft drawn in favor of the General Manager, CEB.
Bidders should submit their bids:
  • to the address below
  • on or before 10:00 hours on 1 June 2005
  • together with a Bid Security as follows:

Late bids shall be rejected. Bids will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of the bidders representatives who choose to attend.

CEB will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation and delivery of bids.

In the comparison of bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
