Contract No. ICB-10-01 and 10-03/2004 - Supply and Delivery of Vehicles

The Kingdom of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Rural Electrification, Distribution and Transmission Project., and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to eligible payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Bids is issued.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) ("the Purchaser") now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the supply and delivery of the following:
ICB-10-01 and 10-03/2004 (Lot 10)Lot 1: Crane Trucks and General Purpose Trucks
Lot 3: Motorbikes

International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: Two-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.
Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from REDSRP and inspect the Bidding Document at the address given below from 09:00 to 17:00 hours (office hour).
The Bidding Document, in the English language, may be purchased during office hours on all working days by interested eligible Bidders from 17 January 2005 onward upon submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Nepalese Rupees 5,000.00 or an equivalent amount in US$ by bank voucher to the Project Account No: 011450 C at the Everest Bank Limited, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 13:00 hours (Nepal Standard Time) on 18 March 2005 All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of US$5,000 for Package No.1 and US$600 for Package 2 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency or an equivalent amount in Nepalese Rupees. Late Bids shall be rejected. The Technical Proposals will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of Bidders' representatives who choose to attend.
The Price Proposals of the substantially responsive Bidders will be opened in the presence of Bidders' representatives who choose to be present at the time and date and at the address to be advised by the Employer after approval of the ADB of the evaluation of the Technical Proposals. The Price Proposals of those Bidders who fail to qualify will be returned unopened to the respective Bidders or their representatives.
NEA will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.
In the comparison of Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
