1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Chittagong Port Trade Facilitation Project, and it is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Prequalification is issued.

2. The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) intends to prequalify firms for a plant- design, supply and install of oily waste collection including equipment for oil spills clearing and water quality testing. In order to strengthen the institutional capability, the vendor/firm will provide training to CPA staff and maintain the supplied equipment for a stipulated period.

3. It is expected that the invitation for Bids will be made by March 2007.

4. Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information and inspect the Prequalification Document at the address given below from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.

5. The Prequalification Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Taka 6800.00 or US$ 100.00. in favor of Chittagong Port Authority through Sonali Bank, Port Branch, Chittagong.

If requested, the Employer will promptly dispatch the documents by registered airmail (mailing cost to be added to the cost of document) but under no circumstances shall be responsible for late delivery or loss of the document so mailed.

6. Applications for Prequalification must be delivered to the above mentioned address on or before 22 February 2007 and be clearly marked "Application for Prequalification for Supply and Installation of Equipment for Oily Waste Collection, including Equipment for Oil Spills Clearing and Water Quality Testing of CPA. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late Applications.

7. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications.

8. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified.
