1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Chittagong Port Trade Facilitation Project, and it is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Prequalification is issued.

2. The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) intends to prequalify firms for the following: Reconstruction & Upgrading of Internal Roads including construction of a Canal Bridge between Chittagong Container Terminal (CCT) and General Cargo Berth (GCB) and Gate Control Equipment (CPA-4)

3. It is expected that the invitation for Bids will be made in April 2007.

4. Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information and inspect the Prequalification Document at the address given below from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm during office hours.

5. The Prequalification Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of Taka 6800.00 or US$ 100.00. in favor of Chittagong Port Authority through Sonali Bank, Port Branch, Chittagong through Callan.

If requested, the Employer will promptly dispatch the documents by post or courier services (mailing or courier services cost to be added to the cost of document) No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

6. Applications for Prequalification must be delivered to the above mentioned address at or before 12.00 hours on 22 March 2007. The Employer reserves the right to accept or reject late Applications.

7. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications.

8. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified.
