1. The Kingdom of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Road Network Development Project. Part of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of the ADB.

2. The Project Directorate, Department of Roads, Ministry of Physical Planning and Works invites sealed bids from eligible bidders.

The works under this contract will comprise construction of:
  1. a 96-meter span, simply supported steel frame truss bridge with concrete deck
  2. RC spread footing foundation to abutments
  3. RC counterfort wall abutments
  4. Pedestrian sidewalk
  5. 120 meter approach embankment and sealing
  6. Protection works to the abutments

The total contract period will be about 20 months. Contractors will be required to demonstrate an average construction turnover of US$2.95 million per year. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope' Bidding Procedure without prequalification.

4. To purchase the bidding documents in English, eligible bidders should:
  • write to address above requesting the bidding documents for Contract No. RNDP/ICB/PK; Piluwa Khola Bridge Construction
  • pay a non-refundable fee of NRs.10,000 for contract in Government of Nepal (GON) Revenue Account No. 1-1-5-99 at Nepal Rastra Bank, Kathmandu

5. Deliver your bid:
  • to the address above
  • on or before 19 February 2007
  • together with a Bid Security of NRs 4 million or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency . Bids will be opened immediately after the deadline in the presence of bidders' representative who choose to attend.

6. The Employer will send the Bidding Document by express mail or courier for an additional fee of US$50. The Employer accepts no liability for loss or late delivery.

7. When comparing Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
