This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice that appeared in the "ADB Business Opportunities" in January 2003.

The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Jamuna Meghna River Erosion Mitigation Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of the loan to eligible payments under the contracts for which this Invitation for Bid is issued.

The Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) now invites sealed bids from eligible Bidders from member countries of the ADB for procurement of:

International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to Bidders from eligible source countries.

A Bidder could bid for one lot or two lots.

To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should:
  • write to the address above
  • pay of a non-refundable fee of Tk. 12,000 or USD 200.0 in bank draft or cashier's check in favor of :
    Deputy Director
    Dhaka Regional Accounting Center
    Bangladesh Water Development Board
    Dhaka

The document will be sent by courier services or may be collected by an authorized representative of the Bidder. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

A pre-bid meeting will be held at the address below at 10:a.m. on 25 October 2005.

Bidders should submit their bids:
  • to the address above
  • on or before 2:00 p.m. on 23 November 2005 together with a Bid Security of :
    Lot 1: BDT 2,300,000 or US$36,000
    Lot 2: BDT1,200,000 OR US$20,000
Bids will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of the Bidders' representatives who choose to attend. Late Bids shall be rejected.

BWDB will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.

In the comparison of bids, ADB's domestic preference will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
