The Kingdom of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Rural Electrification and Distribution System Reinforcement Project (REDSRP), and it is intended to apply a portion of the proceeds of this loan to eligible payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Bids is issued.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), now invites eligible bidders from member countries of ADB to resubmit sealed bids for the:

Supply and Delivery of Concentric Cables

(Details and specifications are provided in the Bidding Document)

International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: Two-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from REDSRP and inspect the Bidding Document at the address given below from 10.0 to 17.0 hours during office hours.

To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should:

  • write to address below from 1 September 2005
  • pay a non-refundable fee of NRs25,000 or US$350.0 by bank voucher in favor of:

Deliver your bids:

  • to the address below
  • on or before 13.0 hours (Nepal Standard Time) on 31 October 2005
  • together with a Bid Security of US$32,000 or an equivalent amount in Nepalese Rupees or any equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.

Bids will be opened

  • at 15.00 hours (Nepal Standard Time) on 31 October 2005 (except holidays)
  • in the presence of Bidders or their representatives who choose to attend.

Late bids will be rejected.

The technical proposals which are submitted by non-qualified Bidders or which are not substantially responsive will be rejected.

The price proposals of the substantially responsive Bidders will be opened in the presence of Bidders and their representative who choose to be present at the time and at the address to be advised by the Purchaser after approval of the ADB of the evaluation of the technical proposals. The price proposals of those Bidders who fail to qualify will be returned unopened to the respective Bidders or their representatives.

NEA will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.

In the comparison of bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Instructions to Bidders.
