Invitation for Bids (Rebidding)

1. The Kingdom of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Small Towns Water Supply and Sanitation Sector Project. Part of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

2. The Department of Water Supply and Sewerage (DWSS) invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the following works:

Itahari Town Project:
  • Construction of deep tube well,
  • RCC Overhead tank,
  • Water treatment plant,
  • Supply and installation of D.I., G.I. and HDPE pipelines works,
  • Electric Transmission line and supply and pumping equipment, and
  • Sanitation facilities

(More details and specifications are provided in the Bidding Document.)

3. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.

Post qualification criteria will include several requirements on financial capacity, technical capability and works experience of which some are listed below
  • minimum average annual turnover from construction business over the last five years US$ 2.22 million
  • carried out at least 1 project of in water supply works with a value of at least US$1.33 million over the last 10 years.

3. To obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents, bidders should contract the address given below from 10 a.m to 5:00 p.m.

4. To purchase the bidding documents in English, eligible bidders should:
  • write to the address above
  • pay a nonrefundable fee of NRs8,000 or US$115 by bank draft or cash deposit in favor of "Project Management Office":

The Employer will send the Bidding Document by express mail or courier for an additional fee of US$50. The Employer accepts no liability for loss or late delivery.

5. Deliver your bids:
  • to the address above
  • on or before 11 September 2006
  • together with a Bid Security of NRs2.70 million or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.

Bids will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend.

The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.

6. When comparing the bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
