1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in the "ADB Business Opportunities", December 1999.

2. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Women's Health Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for procurement of medicines.

3. The Department of Health, Government of Sindh, now invites sealed bids for the procurement of medicines (Package B).

4. International Competitive Bidding (ICB) will be conducted in accordance with the ADB's Single Stage: One Envelope procedure and is open to all bidders from ADB member countries.

5. Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from office of the Project Director, Women's Health Project, Sindh and inspect the Bidding Document at the address given below from 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m.

6. The Bidding Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested Bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of US$100 or PRs. 2,000 in cashier's check. The document will be sent by courier services. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

7. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 11:00 a.m. on 26 September 2006 at 11:00 hours. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of 2% of the value of Bid in the shape of pay order/bank draft. Late bids shall be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the Bidders' representative who choose to attend at the address below at 11:30 a.m. on 26 September 2006.

8. The Women's Health Project, Health Department, Government of Sindh, will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.

9. In the comparison of Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Instruction to Bidders.
