Loan 2257: North-South Corridor Project
The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of North-South Corridor Project. The loan was approved 26 September 2006. The Project is to- rehabilitate the Mazar-e-Sharif-Dara-i-Suf road, 140.3 km and the Bamian-Yakawlang road, 98.9 km,
- install cross-border facilities in Spin Boldak,
- support campaigns to prevent HIV/AIDS and increase awareness of human trafficking;
- provide support for project management and monitoring, and
- provide project management support to the Ministry of Public Works
Procurement of goods, services, and civil works to be financed under the ABD loan will be carried out in accordance with ADB's Procurement Guidelines. Through International Competitive Bidding:
- Design and Build Contract
- Mazar-e Sharif to Pul-I Baraq
- Pul-I Baraq to Dara-i-Suf
- Yakawlang to Bamian
- Supply and Installation Contract - Equipment for cross border
A total of 181 person-months of international consultants and 740 person-months of national consultants will be engaged to supervise construction contracts and implementation of HIV/AIDS component. A total of 6 person-months of international individual consultants will be engaged for procurement management. All consultants financed from the ADB loan will be selected and engaged in accordance with ADB's Guidelines on the Use of Consultants.
