Loan 2274: Taiyuan-Zhongwei Railway Project
The People's Republic of China received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Taiyuan-Zhongwei Railway Project. The loan was approved 23 November 2006. The Project is designed to promote sustainable economic growth by constructing 944 kilometers of railway from Taiyuan in Shanxi to Zhongwei and Yinchuan in Ningxia. The Project will- develop an efficient, safe, affordable, and environmentally sustainable railway transport system in the region; and
- facilitate the creation of additional employment and income-generating opportunities, thus benefiting poor residents.
The Ministry of Railways will procure ADB-financed components in accordance with ADB's Procurement Guidelines. Other items will be procured in accordance with government procedures acceptable to ADB. Through International Competitive Bidding:
track work (10 packages) - railway materials including rails, sleepers, turnouts and fastenings. Through International Competitive Bidding/ National Competitive Bidding/Limited International Bidding/Shopping:
equipment- electric power and traction, telecommunications, signaling, e-governance and management information system, safety component. Consulting Services
The ADB loan will finance 10 person-months of international consulting services for strengthening the institutional, marketing and business development function of the Project Company. Interested bidders from ADB's member countries who wish obtain additional information may contact:
