1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has applied for a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of Sustainable Power Sector Development Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract named above.

2. The Dhaka Electric Supply Co. Ltd. (DESCO) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and delivery of the following packages:

Details and specifications are provided in the Bidding Document.

A bidder is free to bid for one lot or a combination of lots.

3. International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: Two-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries.

5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the Bidding Document at the address given below from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm during working days:

6. The Bidding Document, in the English language, may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the Company Secretary at the above address and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Tk.5,000. The method of payment will be by demand draft or pay order issued in favor of DESCO.

7. Bids must be delivered to the address above at or before 12:00 am (Bangladesh Standard Time) on 9 August 2007. All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount stated in the above table.

8. The technical bids will be opened at 12:30 pm (Bangladesh Standard Time) on 9 August 2007 in the presence of the bidder's representatives who choose to attend. The price bid will be opened in the presence of the bidder's representatives who choose to attend at the time, date, and address to be advised by DESCO after approval of the evaluation of the technical bids by ADB.

9. DESCO will not be responsible for costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.

10. In the comparison of bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
