1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Road Network Improvement & Maintenance Project-II (RNIMP-II), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contracts below for the Periodic Road Maintenance Component for which this Invitation for Bids is issued.

2. The Additional Chief Engineer, Roads & Highways Department (RHD) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders from Bangladesh and other member countries of ADB for the following packages:

3. National competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries.

4. Only eligible contractors of Bangladesh and international contractors of ADB member countries should participate in this bidding.

5. To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should:

  • submit a written application to the address below
  • pay a non-refundable fee of Tk 5,000 by cash
  • on or before 6 April 2008

6. Bids must be delivered to:

  • the address above
  • on or before 7 April 2008, 1:00 P.M. (BST)
  • bids must be accompanied by a bid security as stated in the above table in the form of Bank Draft/ Pay Order/irrevocable Bank Guarantee only issued by a scheduled bank of Bangladesh in favour of the Employer as prescribed in the bid document. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend at the address above on 7 April 2008 at 1:30 P.M. (BST).

7. RHD will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.

8. To compare the bids, ADB's Domestic Preference scheme will not be applied.
