1. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of the "Chittagong Port Trade Facilitation Project - CHC Component". Part of this loan will be used for payments under contract CHC/01.
2. The Customs House Chittagong (CHC) now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the Supply, Delivery, Installation, Commissioning, Operation and Maintenance of Container Inspection Equipment at Chittagong Port.
3. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with the ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.
4. Postqualification criteria will include requirements with regard to the financial capacity, technical capability and previous successful experience in supplying, operating and maintaining container scanning equipment and systems in similar projects under comparable conditions.
5. To obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents, bidders should contact the address below from Sundays to Thursdays, from 9:00-17:00 hours (BST):

6. To purchase the bidding documents in English, eligible bidders should:
- write to the address above
- pay a nonrefundable fee of US$100 or BDT 7,000 through a pay order in favor of the Customs House Chittagong.
7. Deliver your bid:
- to the address above
- on or before 13:00 hours (BST), on 17 December 2007. Late bids will be rejected.
- together with a Bid Security of US$50,000 in the form of a certified cheque, letter of credit, or a guarantee from a reputable bank
Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend at the address above at 13:30 hrs BST on 17 December 2007.
8. The CHC will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the Bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.
