1.    This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the ADB's Business Opportunities of October 2006.

2.    The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Second Rural Infrastructure Improvement Project (RIIP-II), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Bid is issued.

3.    The Project Director, Second Rural Infrastructure Improvement Project: RIIP-II, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders from member countries of ADB for the procurement of the following Goods for the purpose of the Project.

4.    International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

5.    Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the Bidding Document from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on all working days until 18 May 2008 at the following address:

6.    To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should pay the non-refundable fee stated in the table above in cash or bank draft in favor of the Project Director, RIIP-II, LGED. The Bidding Document will also be available at the following websites: http://www.lged.gov.bd,  http:/www.cptu.gov.bd. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

7.    Bids must be delivered:

  • to the address mentioned above
  • on or before 14:00 hours on or before 19 May 2008
  • bids must be accompanied by a bid security mentioned above. Late Bids shall be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the Bidders or his representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 14:30 on 19 May 2008.

8.    The Project Director will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.

10.    The authority reserves all the rights to accept any bid or to reject any or all bids without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
