Deadline of Bids:14 May 2008 at 12.30 p.m. BST

1.    The Peoples Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward the cost of Sustainable Power Sector Development Projects, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for named above.

2.    The Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd., (DESCO) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the following packages:

Lot-B of Package- 2: 12KV Vacuum Type Switchgear under Group-1
Lot-B of Package- 2: 12KV SF6 Insulated Compact Ring Main Unit (RMU) under Group-2

3.    International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: Two-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries.

4.    Interested eligible bidders may obtain additional information and inspect the Bidding Document from The Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd., (DESCO) at the address given below, from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm BST.

5.    To purchase the Bidding Document in English bidders should:

  • submit a written application to the address below
  • pay a non-refundable fee of Tk. 5,000. The method of payment will be in the form of Demand Draft or Pay Order in favour of Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd., (DESCO). The document will be sent by airmail for overseas delivery and surface mail or courier for local delivery. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

6.    Bids must be delivered:

  • to the address below
  • on or before 14 May 2008 at 12.00 noon BST. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of US$ 20,000 for Group-1, Lot- B of Package- 2 and US$ 12,000 for Group-2, Lot-B of Package- 2 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected.

Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 14 May 2008 at 12.30 pm BST.

7.    The Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd., (DESCO) will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.

8.    To compare the bids, ADB's Domestic Preference scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
