1. The Peoples Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Sustainable Power Sector Development Project. Part of proceeds of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.
2. The Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd., (DESCO) (the Employer) invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction and completion of the following:
Lot-A1 of Package-2: Design, Supply and Installation of new 33/11 KV Substations at (i) DOHS, Mirpur, Dhaka; (ii) Baunia, Mirpur and Rehabilitation of existing (i) Mirpur (Old) 33/11KV Sub-Stations (ii) Kafrul 33/11KV Sub-Stations on Turnkey basis.
Lot-A2 of Package-2: Design, Supply and Installation of new 33/11 KV Substations at (i) DOHS, Mohakhali; (ii) Aftab Nagar, Badda, (iii) Bashundhara (iv) Civil Aviation Authority area and Rehabilitation of existing (i) ADA 33/11KV Sub-Station (ii) Uttara 33/11KV Sub-Stations on Turnkey basis.
3. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: Two-Envelope Bidding Procedure.

5. To purchase the Bidding Documents in English, eligible bidders should:
- Write to the address above requesting Bidding Documents for either Lot-A1 of Package 2 or Lot-A2 of Package 2.
- Pay a non-refundable fee of Taka 21,000 for each lot by Pay Order favouring Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd., (DESCO). The delivery procedure is usually by airmail for overseas delivery and surface mail or courier for local delivery (without additional charge). No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.
6. Deliver your bid:
- to the address above;
- on or before 7 August 2008 at 12:00 noon BST;
- together with a Bid Security of US$ 140,000 for Lot-A1 of package 2 and US$ 210,000 for Lot-A2 of package 2 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
Bids will be opened immediately after the deadline in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend.
7. When comparing Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
