1. This Invitation for prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project which was posted in the ADB Business Opportunities on 12 November 2007. This contract is jointly financed by the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Asian Development Bank (ADB).The eligibility rules and procedures of ADB will govern the prequalification and the bidding process.
2. The People's Republic of Bangladesh has received a loan from ADB, towards the cost of Dhaka Water Supply Sector Development Project (DWSSDP) for the rehabilitation, replacement, expansion and optimization of the transmission and distribution water supply networks, including replacement/ installation of service connections and metering etc. It is intended that this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the implementation of the contracts for which this invitation to prequalify is issued.
3. Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) (the Employer) intends to prequalify the firms for the contract packages below, each comprising an average of 15 DMA as mentioned in the Prequalification document.

4. It is expected that the invitation for bids will be made between March 2010 and December 2010.
5. Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from the office of the Project Director at the address below from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm:

6. To purchase the prequalification documents in the English language, applicants should:
- submit a written application to the address above from 1 October 2009 to 11 November 2009 during normal working hours;
- pay a nonrefundable fee of Tk. 5,000 or US$ 75, in the form of Demand Draft or Pay Order in favor of Project Director, DWSSDP for each document.
7. The prequalification document will either be (a) given by hand to the applicants or their representatives; (b) sent by airmail for overseas delivery; or (c) sent by surface mail for local delivery, at the expense of the applicant. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.
8. Application along with the documents must be submitted at the office of the Project Director on or before 19 November 2009 at 12.00 hours (Bangladesh Time). The employer reserves the right to accept or reject late Applications.
9. The employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by applicants in connection with the preparation or submission of their Applications. 10. The employer will notify all applicants in writing of the names of those applicants who have been prequalified.
