Loan 2415-IND: Multitranche Financing Facility for National Power Grid Development Investment Program (Tranche 1)

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the National Power Development Investment Program (Program).

The Program is expected to promote sustained social and economic prosperity and growth in India by providing an adequate and reliable power supply. The Program will be financed, through ADB's multitranche financing facility (MFF). The MFF will extend multiple loans of no less than $100 million to finance part of the costs of the two projects constituting the investment program. The investment program will have two projects for funding under the Facility:

  • Project 1: Upgradation of Transmission Capacity from Uttarakhand
  • Project 2: ±800kV High Voltage Direct Current Northeastern-Northern/Western Interconnector.

The Projects financed by each tranche may include one or more contract packages, in respect of each Project.

Procurement

The proceeds of the loan for Tranche 1 (Loan 2415-IND) are intended to be used for the procurement of the following:

  • Substations
  • Auto transformers
  • Shunt reactors
  • Conductors
  • HVDC Insulators
  • Hardware fittings
  • Accessories/Spacer Damper & Rigid Spacer

All procurements to be financed from the ADB loan proceeds will be carried out in accordance with ADB's Procurement Guidelines (2007).

Consulting Services

No consulting services requirements are envisaged under this Project.
