1. The Government of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Melamchi Water Supply Project. Part of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to prequalified bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.
2. The Melamchi Water Supply Development Board (MWSDB) ("the Employer") invites sealed bids from prequalified eligible bidders for the construction and completion of Headworks and Tunnel Construction ("the Works"). The main scope of works include construction of a diversion tunnel, approximately 26.3 km long with cross section between 12 to 20 square meters, to be excavated by drill and blast method, construction of headworks intake structures and access roads, and hydraulic steelworks.
3. International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure.

5. To purchase the Bidding Documents in English, eligible bidders should:
- Write to the address above requesting bidding documents for Contract No. MDS/DT/01 Headworks and Tunnel Construction.
- Pay a non-refundable fee of US$200 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency by a bank draft or is deposited in the Employer's Bank Account NPR C/A 01-1000918-01 in Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited, New Baneswor Branch, Kathmandu, Nepal.
6. A Pre-Bid meeting will take place at 11:00 hours on 17 March 2008 at Conference Room, Second Floor, MWSDB Building, Baneswor, Kathmandu, Nepal.
7. Deliver your bid:
- to the Executive Director's Office at the address above
- on or before the deadline: 12:00 Hours 2 May 2008
- together with a Bid Security of US$1.6 million or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency
Bids will be opened immediately after the deadline at 12:00 hours on the same day in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend.
8. When comparing Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will not be applied in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Bidding Document.
