1.   The Government of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Melamchi Water Supply Project, Kathmandu Valley Sub-Project (Subproject 2). Part of the proceeds of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to eligible bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

2.    The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and delivery of Vehicle Mounted High Pressure Jetting Equipment (Jetting Trucks) as follows:

  • Leak Detector complete set with digital signal processing - 13 Sets
  • Standard Pipe and Valve locator complete set - 15 Sets
  • Valve locator complete set - 13 Sets
  • Measuring wheel complete set - 15 Sets
  • Portable Ultrasonic flow meters - 1 Set
  • Electrical powered submersible dewatering pump - 1 Set
  • Petrol driven portable generator of 3.5 KW - 1 Unit
  • Double cabin hard top 4WD diesel vehicle - 1 Unit
  • Motorbike of 125 CC - 2 units
  • Hand held GPS units - 2 units

3.    International Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and in accordance with ADB Procurement Guideline.

4.    Only eligible bidders with the following key qualifications-should participate in this bidding:

  • Minimum average annual turnover of US $ 0.40 Million or Equivalent Nepalese Currency (NRs.) calculated as total certified payments received for contracts in progress or completed, within the last 3 years.
  • Has successfully completed a Contract as main Supplier of goods of similar nature over a three year period ending on the deadline for bid submission.
  • Has assurance of a service facility and the availability of spare parts would not be problem in the Purchaser's Country.

6.    To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should:

  1. visit the office of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited at the address indicated above and pay a non-refundable fee of NRs 5,000 or US $ 75 in the following Bank account;
    or
  2. request for delivery by sending a written application to The Project Director at the address indicated above. The application must be supported by payment of NRs. 12,500 (domestic delivery) or US $ 225 (overseas delivery) by International Bank Transfer to the following account. Documents will be sent by courier. No liability will be accepted for the loss or late delivery.

7.    Deliver your bid:

  • to the address above;
  • on or before 20 October 2009; 12:00 hrs. Local Time (NST)
  • Together with a Bid Security of US$ 4,000 or NRs. 300,000.

Bids will be opened immediately after the deadline in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend.

8.    The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.
