Contract No.: KUKL/DNI/03/07/08 - Supply and Delivery of Standard Centrifugal Horizontal Pumps, Submersible Pumps, Auto Transformer Starter and Cables also referred as Pumping Equipments
Deadline for Bids:12:00 Noon Local Time on 6 November 2009

1.     The Government of Nepal has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Melamchi Water Supply Project, Kathmandu Valley Sub-Project (Subproject 2). Part of the proceeds of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to eligible bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

2.    The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Supply and Delivery of Pumping Equipments as follows:

  • Standard Horizontal Pumps - 10 Sets
  • Submersible Pumps - 26 Sets
  • Auto Transformer Starter - 8 Sets
  • PVC Insulated Flat Submersible Copper Cables - 3620 meter

3.    International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure.

5.   Only Eligible bidders with the following key qualifications should participate in this bidding:

  • Minimum average annual turnover of US$ 0.75 Million or Equivalent Nepalese Currency (NRs.) calculated as total certified payments received for contracts in progress or completed, within the last 3 years.
  • Has successfully completed a Contract as main Supplier of goods of similar nature over a three year period ending on the deadline for bid submission.
  • Has assurance of a service facility and the availability of spare parts would not be problem in the Purchaser's Country.

6.     To purchase the Bidding Document in English, eligible bidders should:

  1. visit the office of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited at the address indicated above and pay a non-refundable fee of NRs 5,000 or US $ 75 to the account below;
    or
  2. request for delivery by sending a written application to The Project Director at the address indicated above. The application must be supported by proof of deposit to the bank account below for the amount of NRs. 7,500 (domestic delivery) or US$ 150 (overseas delivery). The document will be sent by courier. No liability will be accepted for the loss or late delivery.

7.     Deliver your Bid:

  • to the address above;
  • on or before 12:00 Noon Local Time on 6 November 2009. Late bids will not be accepted.
  • together with a bid security of US$ 7,500 or Nepalese Currency (NRs.) 550,000.

Bids will be opened immediately after the deadline in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend.

8.    The Kathmandu Upatyaka khanepani Limited will not be responsible for any cost or expenses incurred by bidder in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.

9.     ADB's Domestic Preference will not be applied.
