1. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan and a grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Earthquake Emergency Assistance Project (EEAP). Part of the proceeds of this loan and grant will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of ADB and bidders from countries eligible for procurement under European Commission regulations.
2. The Project Coordinator, PCU, EEAP-AJK on behalf on the Education department (DoE), AJK now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the procurement & supply of furniture for 96 Middle Schools in Bagh District, AJ&K.
3. National Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure. The furniture is to be provided at the premises indicated by the Employer/Purchaser in Bagh District, AJ&K in Pakistan which would involve transportation of the furniture for each school in respective districts. The procurement and supply of the furniture is divided into 3 lots with following distribution:
Lot 10-A 32 Schools in District Bagh
Lot 10-B 32 Schools in District Bagh
Lot 10-C 32 Schools in District Bagh

6. To purchase the Bidding Documents in English, eligible bidders should:
- write to the address above requesting the Bidding Documents for Contract No 1.10-Procurement of Furniture for 96 Middle Schools in Bagh District, AJ&K (Procurement and Supply Contract). Bidding Documents can be obtained till one week before the deadline for submission of Bids.
- pay a non-refundable fee of PKR 2,500 or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency only through pay order/bank draft in favour of Chief Engineer (Reconstruction), EEAP.
- Bidding documents will be sent by courier at the address indicated by the prospective bidders. The prospective bidder shall add the cost of courier service into the non-refundable fee for purchase of bid document. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

- together with a Bid Security 2% of the quoted bid for each lot or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency in favour of Education Department Government of AJ&K through Chief Engineer (Reconstruction)EEAP)-AJK.
8. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders representatives who choose to attend at the address above on 16 April 2009 at 11:30 AM.
9. The bidder is to provide views of the items (drawings if applicable) along with details, thicknesses of materials and specifications.
10. Income Tax / Sales Tax will be deducted as per Government Rules.
