1. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan and a grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Earthquake Emergency Assistance Project (EEAP). Part of the proceeds of this loan and grant will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.
2. Project Coordinator, PCU, PERRA-NWFP on behalf of the Education Department NWFP now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the procurement & supply of furniture for 121 [(102 Primary), (14 Middle) and (5 High)] Schools in Shangla and Battagram Districts, NWFP.
3. National Competitive Bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage:One-Envelope Bidding Procedure. A joint venture is qualified for the contract. The furniture is to be provided at the premises indicated by the Purchaser in Battagram & Shangla Districts, NWFP in Pakistan which would involve transportation of the furniture for each school in respective districts. The procurement and supply of the furniture is divided into 4 lots with following distribution:
Lot -2A 23 Schools in District Shangla
Lot -2B 37 Schools in District Shangla
Lot -2C 36 Schools in District Battagram
Lot -2D 25 Schools in District Battagram

5. To purchase the bidding documents in English, eligible bidders should:
- Write to address above requesting the bidding documents for Contract No 1.2-Procurement and Supply of Furniture for 121 Schools in Shangla and Battagram Districts, NWFP (Procurement and Supply Contract).
- Pay a non-refundable fee of PKR 2,500 or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency only through pay order/bank draft in favour of Project Coordinator, PCU, PERRA-NWFP.
- Bidding Documents can be purchased from the above address or by courier at the address indicated by the prospective bidders. The prospective bidder shall add the cost of courier service into non-refundable fee for the purchase of Bidding Document. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.
6. Bids must be delivered:
- to the address above;
- on or before 12:00PM on 24 November 2009. Late bids shall be rejected.
- together with a Bid Security 2% of the quoted bid for each lot payable in a freely convertible currency in favour of Education Department Government of NWFP through Project Coordinator, PCU, PERRA-NWFP.
7. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders representatives who choose to attend at the address above on 24 November 2009at 12:30PM.
8. The bidder is to provide views of the items (drawings if applicable) along with details, thicknesses of materials and specifications.
