1. This Invitation for Prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in ADB Business Opportunities on 19 May 2009. This contract will be jointly financed by ADB and Government of the Punjab, Pakistan. The eligibility rules and procedures of ADB will govern the prequalification and the bidding process.
2. The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank towards the cost of Project 1 of Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Investment Program.
3. Punjab Irrigation and Power Department (PIPD), Pakistan (the Employer) intends to pre-qualify firms for the following contracts under this project:

| LBDC/ICB-02 | Rehabilitation and Upgrading of LBDC RD 227+454 to RD 527+216 (91.39 Km) covering Sahiwal Canal Division. |
| LBDC/ICB-03 | Rehabilitation and Upgrading of LBDC RD 527+216 to RD 660+700 (40.69 Km) covering Khenawal Canal Division. |
4. It is expected that the Invitation for Bids (IFB) for Contracts LBDC/ICB-01, LBDC/ICB -02 & LBDC/ICB -03 will be made in December 2009 and January 2010.
5. Interested eligible Applicants may obtain further information and inspect the Prequalification Document from the PIPD, Province of Punjab, Islamic Republic of Pakistan at the address given below, from 09:00 hours to 14:30 hours.
6. To purchase the Prequalification Document, in English, applicants should:
- submit a written application to the address below;
- pay a nonrefundable fee of Rs. 5,000 or US$ 100. The method of payment will be through pay order. The document will be sent by a courier service for delivery within Pakistan and by airmail, if Applicant requests to be sent to overseas.
7. Applications must be delivered:
- to the address below;
- on or before 11:00 hours, on 22 October 2009. The late applications will not be accepted.
8. The Employer will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Applicants in connection with the preparation or delivery of their Applications.
9. The Employer will notify all Applicants in writing of the names of those Applicants who have been prequalified.
