1.    The Islamic Republic of Pakistan has received a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the Power Distribution Enhancement Investment Program and a part of this loan will be used for payments under the contract named above. Bidding is open to bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

2.    The Islamabad Electric Supply Company, IESCO (the Employer) invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for supply of Power and Distribution Transformers.

3.    International competitive bidding will be conducted in accordance with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries.

5.    To purchase the bidding documents in English, bidders should:

  1. visit the office of IESCO at the address indicated above and pay a non-refundable fee of PRs.8,000 or US$ 100 by Bank Draft from any Scheduled Bank of Pakistan in favor of: IESCO, Head Office, Street No. 40, Sector G-7/4, Islamabad (Pakistan),
    or
  2. request for delivery by sending a written application to IESCO at the address indicated above, requesting for Bidding Document No. ADB-IESCO-01-2009 for supply of Power and Distribution Transformers. The method of payment will be by Bank Draft from any Scheduled Bank of Pakistan in favor of IESCO, Chief Engineer (Development) IESCO, Head Office, Street No. 40, Sector G-7/4, Islamabad (Pakistan), for the amount of PKR 10,000 (local delivery) or $200 (overseas delivery). The document will be sent by courier service. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

6.    Deliver your bid:

  • to the address above;
  • on or before 11 .00 AM on 8 October 2009;
  • Together with a Bid Security in the amount of $0.213 million or PRs4.55 million.

Bids will be opened immediately after the deadline in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend. Late Bids shall be rejected.

7.    When comparing Bids, ADB's Domestic Preference Scheme will be applied.

8.    IESCO will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by Bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of Bids.
