Civil Aviation Development Investment Program (CADIP)
Project: Domestic Apron Extension and Associated Works at Port Moresby International Airport
The Independent State of Papua New Guinea (PNG) has applied for a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the Civil Aviation Development Investment Program (CADIP). The PNG Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will be the executing agency (EA).
The PNG Government intends to use some of the loan proceeds to finance the cost of the Domestic Apron Extension Project. The purpose of the Project is to extend the domestic apron of the Prot Moresby International airport to accommodate parking by various aircraft types up to maximum B737-800 size. The development will involve extending the Domestic apron at the north-west end, a new stub taxiway, drainage improvements and associated works.
The proceeds of the loan are intended to be used for the procurement of the following, through international competitive bidding (ICB):
- Extend the Domestic Apron by 102.5m long x 162m wide at the NW end.
- Construct new Stub Taxiway connecting the new extended Apron to the existing Parallel Taxiway. Taxiway min 23.0m wide.
- Construct 7.50m wide Asphalt Surfaced shoulders to both the new Apron and new Stub Taxiway.
- Construct new aircraft pavements comprising crushed rock base-course surfaced with prime, single coat bituminous seal and dense graded asphalt.
- Construct concrete encased duct bank 6 No. x 100mm dia x 60.0m long under new Stub Taxiway.
- Construct new Apron access road 17.5 m wide x 102.5 m long as an extension of the existing.
- Construct flank earthworks, topsoil and grassing beyond the shoulders to the new Extended Apron and Stub Taxiway.
- Construct concrete pads each 22m x 12m for future B-737-800 aircraft parking positions.
- Construct Storm water Drainage associated with the new Apron Extension and new Stub Taxiway.
- New RC Box Culvert 2 No 1900mm wide x 1250mm high x 45m long under new Stub Taxiway.
- Realign the existing open unlined drain.
- Supply and install Apron flood lighting to the extended Apron.
- Paint new Pavement Markings to aircraft pavements.
- Construction of 2 No. timber framed office building for the Construction site office and PIU office respectively. 27 m long x 12m wide single storey Timber Framed on short iron posts (1.2m) with a 1.8m wide veranda. Pitch roof truss and coloured bond steel roofing. The first batch of bidding documents for the above items is expected to be available on or about Wednesday 12 August 2009, subject to a nominal charge.
