1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in the adb.org on 15 June 2006.

2. The Independent State of Papua New Guinea has received loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of the Supplementary Loans for the Road Maintenance and Upgrading (Sector) Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract named above for this Invitation for Bids is issued.

3. The Department of Works now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the rehabilitation of the Ialibu to Kagua Road, Package 2 between Seven Corners Village to Kagua Road in Southern Highlands Province.

4. National Competitive Bidding (NCB) will be conducted with ADB's Single-Stage: One-Envelope Bidding Procedure and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries of ADB.

6. To purchase the bidding documents in English, eligible bidders should:
  • write to address below
  • pay a non-refundable fee of K400 or US$ equivalent by cash or bank draft
  • extra fee of K200 or US$ equivalent by cash or bank draft shall be added if courier service is required.
  • No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery

7. Deliver your bid:
  • to the address above
  • on or before the deadline: 10:00 (PNG Time), 5 September 2007
  • together with a Bid Security of K140,000 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.

Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of bidder's representatives who choose to attend at the address given above.

8. The Department of Works or CSTB will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by the bidders in connection with the preparation or delivery of bids.
