Loan 2398/99 - PNG: Lae Port Development Project
1. The Government of Papua New Guinea (the Government) has received loans and grants from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to finance:
- the construction of a tidal basin (700 x 400 meters), a multipurpose berth, and terminal works including all buildings, storage areas, roads, drainage, water, electricity, and sewerage services, with built-in flexibility to increase the capacity further in a cost-effective manner; and
- consulting services in project management, construction supervision, financial management, resettlement, and socioeconomic monitoring.
2. The Government intends to apply the remaining of loan proceeds to payment of construction works and consulting services under this project following the international competitive bidding procedures:
- Construction of Port Facilities; and
- Consultancy Services for Construction Supervision including Environmental Monitoring
3. Procurement of contracts financed by the loan will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the ADB's Procurement Guidelines and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting Services with be selected in accordance with the ADB's Guidelines on the Use of Consultants.
4. Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the ADB's international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures will be announced, as they become available, in ADB.org, UN Development Business, IPBC.com.pg and /or technical magazines and newspapers of wide international circulation.
5. Interested bidders from ADB member countries who wish to be included on the mailing list to receive an invitation to prequalify to bid under ICB procedures, and interested consultants who wish to receive a copy of the advertisement requesting expressions of interest for large-value consultants' contract, or those requiring additional information, should contact the address below.
