North South Corridor Project
Expression of Interest for supervision of design and built contracts
Project
The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has applied for a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and intends to utilize part of this loan towards the cost of North South Corridor Project. The project involves improvements of MAZAR I SHARIF (KM0.00) to DAR I SUF (KM140.30) and YAKAWLANG(KM 0.00) to BAMYAN (KM98.90).
Consulting Services
Two design built contracts for MAZAR I SHARIF (KM0.00) to DAR I SUF (KM140.30) section, and single design built contracts for YAKAWLANG(KM 0.00) to BAMYAN (KM98.90) section are proposed. The consulting services will be provided through one contract for each section. The objective of the consulting services is to assist the Executing Agency(EA), Ministry of Public Works (MPW) to implement the improvement works including the following consulting services.
- review detailed designs by the design & built contractor;
- function as an Engineer for the two contracts;
- administer the civil works contracts and ensure that the works are constructed in accordance with the provision of the civil works contracts;
- ensure compliance with Environmental Guidelines for Selected Infrastructure Development Project (Highway and Roads) and prepare environmental management plan as well as reports of implementing the plan;
- in case resettlements impacts are found during implementation, prepare resettlement plans as per ADB Policy on Involuntary Resettlement;
- carry out road safety audit; and
- carry out Project Performance Monitoring/Benefit Monitoring and Evaluation.
The services will be conducted by an association of international (181 person-months) and domestic (740 person-months) consultants with extensive experience in ADB procurement, contract administration procedures, and construction supervision.
Expression of interest
MPW hereby invite expressions of interest. Internationally reputed firms from member countries of ADB should apply for shortlisting. The expression of interest should be delivered to the address below not later than 8 August 2006.
The firm(s) must include in their expression of interest the following information:
- the general and overall experience of the firm
- Experience of working in similar geographic region or countries
- Annual turnover of the firm(s) for at the last five years
- Nature, cost, per-month inputs, employer, location and field of input for work at hand
- Experience of the firm(s) in the required area of expertise
- Summary of permanent professional employees and resource persons.
The Letter of Invitation to submit detailed technical and financial proposals is expected to be issued by the end of August 2006 to short listed firms. MPW reserve the right to shortlist or not shortlist any or all of the applicant(s) without assigning any reason whatsoever. Further information can be obtained from:
