Project Impact
The purpose of the regional technical assistance project is to enhance strategic thinking on the new poverty reduction and inclusive growth agenda in a more regionalizing and global Asia.

Project Outcome
The project will establish a shared website on poverty reduction and inclusive growth, policy briefs, regional exchange (workshops, video-meetings), and newsletters.

Project Outputs
The website will summarize relevant national knowledge on poverty reduction by focusing on emerging new issues such as inclusiveness of growth and social development, environmental poverty, impact of food and fuel prices increase on the poor, social protection and demographic changes, migration and urbanization, the role of emerging middle income countries in providing development assistance for poverty reduction in the region, etc. The project will facilitate specifc partnerships with knowledge hubs such as the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), the National Council for Applied Economic Resaearch (NCAER) in India, the Korea Development Instiute (KDI), as well as other think tank and policy advice centers in the region. These knowledge hubs will also set up linkages with relevant research institutions in their respective countries.

Consulting Services
The project will - engage one international economist as knowledge management coordinator for poverty reduction and inclusive growth and for setting up the regional poverty website, for writing policy briefs, and for editing the electronic poverty newsletter - hire five national economists with specific expertises in web-writing for summarizing national reports with regional relevance on poverty reduction; - recruit an economic editor for helping ADB sharing its knowledge on poverty reduction and inclusive growth; - work with an expert for web development; and - make provision for short-term experts on emerging topics of poverty reduction and inclusive growth

Recruitment of Consultants
International consultants will be recruited by ADB, as specified through its consulting guidelines. National experts will be engaged by the respective knowledge hub institiutions. Recruitment of consultants is expected to take place in the fourth quarter of 2008.
