Research Study on Poverty-Specific Purchasing Power Parities for Selected Countries in Asia and the Pacific
This study is a methodological research that presents a detailed account of the activities undertaken to estimate poverty purchasing power parities (PPP) using the recommended methodology of the Poverty Advisory Group of the World Bank, as well as alternative PPPs derived from poverty-specific price surveys. The study established that poverty-specific prices would make a difference in the numerical values of the poverty PPPs. The research study is expected to provide significant input into the development and further refinement of methodologies for compiling PPPs specific to poverty measurement.
