Capacity Development for Results-Based Management
Social Sector Agencies in a Decentralized Context

Information Brochures and Other Publications

New

This leaflet summarizes the experiences and lessons learned in implementing RETA 6218 on Decentralization in Social Sectors. The RETA builds on RETA 6089 on Results-based Management (RBM) in the Education Sector which concluded that governments' own self assessment of RBM adoption was strongly influenced by the decentralization context, especially the extent to which organizational authority and accountability systems were effectively aligned.

The RETA was implemented between 2005-2007.

A crucial objective of RETA 6218 was to identify and share lessons on how client countries' decentralization policies and strategies help or hinder RBM approaches, and how ADB may facilitate a more results-oriented approach. Education and health agencies in Cambodia, Indonesia, and Mongolia participated in the RETA.
