F. Private Sector Operations

39. Since 1999, there have been two visits to Vanuatu by ADB's Private Sector Group (PSG) to investigate its investment opportunities. Several potential projects were initially identified and it is envisaged that one or two investments can be supported either directly or through the Kula Fund. The focus of ADB support will also be on assisting to institutionalize appropriate policy and regulatory frameworks aimed at encouraging private sector development. Investor confidence has dropped markedly in the past two years, in part due to impacts of the Asian economic crisis and natural disasters, but also importantly because of continuing inconsistencies in Government policy.
