Country Assistance Plans - Vanuatu

VIII. Economic and Sector Work Program

44. ADB published a comprehensive report on the economy of Vanuatu, under its Pacific Island Economic Report series for Vanuatu in early 1997. This study served as a useful input in the CRP formulation. A TA will be provided in 2003 or earlier for updating the country economic report. During March/April 1998, ADB undertook a staff consultant study on microfinance and rural enterprise development in Vanuatu. In 1999, a budget and expenditure review was undertaken to assist in informing both the Government and ADB on the links between the Government's budget planning and its development strategy. A series of studies in infrastructure, including transportation, water supply, and energy supply, were also provided by ADB staff consultants to assist in formulating the National Infrastructure Master Plan required under the CRP.
