Conclusion

It is clear that arbitration is expanding rapidly and emerging as a new force in terms of dispute resolution in Asia. However, there is still a lot of work ahead for many countries like Brunei and perhaps the Philippines. But as international trade continues to multiply at a meteoric rate and the need for foreign investment grows, the path towards international commercial arbitration appears to be the direction which many Asian countries have chosen to take. The other countries lagging behind in this pursuit of reform in their respective arbitration laws will be appreciative of the trail blazed by the other forward-looking countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
