Dissemination Seminar and Book Launch of the Publication City Development Strategies to Reduce Poverty
25 June 2004; Da Nang, Viet Nam

Background

The seminar and book launch of the publication City Development Strategies to Reduce Poverty is the final activity of RETA 6026: Promoting Urban Poverty Reduction through Participation in the Cities Alliance. Under this initiative the cities of Caloocan, Quezon and Taguig in the Philippines, Calicut in India, and Da Nang in Viet Nam have developed a City Development Strategy (CDS) to improve urban management and a Cities Without Slums (CWS) program to upgrade blighted areas and strengthen the impact of poverty reduction interventions.

The Da Nang People Committee with participation from other government agencies and non government organizations will present the highlights of Da Nang City's programs, key findings and recommendations on Da Nang CDS and CWS to a group of city officials and stakeholders.
