Project Case Studies in the People's Republic of China

OED selected 8 projects in the People's Republic of China, the country with by far the largest number of resettlers in ADB supported projects. The studies took place between March and June 2006. The table below gives some main features of the projects, and provides links to the individual case studies.

The case studies [ PDF: 2,183kb | 96 pages ] show that, over time, more attention was paid to resettlement in ADB's projects in China, and compliance with ADB's policy has been improving. Nevertheless, also in China, strict compliance with ADB's policy has been variable. Satisfaction levels with the resettlement process were nevertheless high. The study includes many photos.
