The ADB and the OECD are jointly organizing, in association with partner institutions and with the support of the Government of Korea, the "Seoul Conference on Combating Corruption in the Asia-Pacific Region". The Conference will be held at COEX (Convention & Exhibitions), World Trade Center, Seoul, South Korea on 11-13 December 2000.

The objective of this Conference is to review the progress made in the fight against corruption in the region, based on the policy recommendations adopted at the first meeting of the ADB/OECD Forum on Combating Corruption held in Manila in 1999. The focus will be on strengthening the co-operation between the different stakeholders in the fight against corruption, including governments, businesses, universities, the media, and civil society. The meeting's aim is to support all stakeholders in leading an efficient fight against corruption in the region. By gathering representatives of main actors in the field of anti-corruption, the Seoul Conference intends to assist participating countries to develop well-targeted anti-corruption programs by providing examples of success stories and best practices gathered from ongoing national and regional initiatives.

Participants to the Seoul Conference will include senior government officials who have sufficient authority to oversee the fulfillment of the policy recommendations of the Anticorruption Forum on behalf of their government, along with representatives from businesses, universities, the media, and civil society.
