International Conference on NGO Poverty Reduction Policy

ADB co-sponsored the International Conference on NGO Poverty Reduction Policy. This was the first major NGO conference held in PRC. The conference was co-sponsored by ADB, UNDP, Ford Foundation, World Bank, Mercy Corps, and the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. The conference was strategically important for ADB and allowed ADB to build and strengthen existing and new relations with the NGO community in PRC. This is important as ADB tries to shift its focus in designing projects towards more people-oriented approaches. As one of the outcomes of the conference, the co-sponsors funded translation of some research papers in order to benefit more readers.
