Post Workshop Statement

Focal areas for potential renewable energy, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas abatement (REGA) projects in each of the CAR countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) were identified and discussed.

Purpose

This PREGA project workshop aims to introduce the ADB Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Climate Change (REACH) program and the PREGA project in Central Asia, particularly in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan, and discuss issues and opportunities offered by the project. It will also discuss issues on the Kyoto Protocol and CDM.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will have:

  • oriented themselves on the REACH program and PREGA project.
  • familiarized themselves with issues on the Kyoto Protocol and CDM.
  • formulated their PREGA country work plans.

  • PREGA country work plans

Target Participants

  • Country representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
