Planning Meeting for Water in Small Island Countries

ADB South Pacific Resident Mission, Port Vila, Vanuatu, 31 January - 1 February 2002

Purpose

This planning meeting aims to map out an approach to a high-level regional workshop (to be held in July/August) and the 3WWF including organization, subjects for discussion, taking stock of recent water initiatives, media, additional sponsors and additional funding.

Objectives

At the end of the Planning Meeting, participants will have:

• Broadly prioritized subsector issues
• Identified best practices, key stakeholders and resource persons as a basis for issuing invitations to prepare papers/presentations
• Prepared outline terms of reference for preparing papers in the subsector

Expected Outputs

• Workplan for the preparation of resource papers, sector papers and case studies for regional workshop
• Proceedings of the Planning Meeting
• Dates for Regional Workshop of Water in Small Island Countries

Target Participants

Participation is by invitation only.

Representatives of the Water Sector in selected Pacific countries, representatives of agencies concerned with water resource management, water authorities, nongovernmental organizations involved in the water sector, the private sector and donor agencies.
