Second Meeting of the Customs Cooperation Committee

The second Customs Cooperation Committee (CCC) meeting was held on 9-10 October 2003 in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, to review progress of the CCC Common Action Plan and identify and recommend future action for customs cooperation in the region. The CCC is composed of the heads of customs administrations of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program. The participating countries in the Program include: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, PRC, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The second CCC meeting was attended by all participating countries except Turkmenistan. ADB staff and experts facilitated the proceedings.

The Customs Cooperation Committee (CCC) of East and Central Asia,
during its first meeting in August 2002 in Urumqi, People's Republic
of China (PRC), endorsed a 7-point
Common Action Plan
(CAP) and instituted Working Groups for its implementation.
On 9-10 October 2003, the CCC held its Second Meeting in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, which reviewed the progress of the CAP's implementation based on the Work
Program
agreed by the CCC Working Groups during their Joint Meeting last April 2003. The 2nd CCC Meeting identified and recommended the future direction of customs cooperation in the region.
