This workshop aims to present and discuss the draft ADB Pacific Region Environmental
Strategy to key government officials and major stakeholders and to solicit views,
comments, suggestions and recommendations to make the strategy more relevant
to the needs of Pacifics DMCs.
At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to have:
- acquired sufficient knowledge and understanding of the state of the Pacific
environment, its relative biological, ecological, and socio-economic importance,
its mounting problems and threats
- an idea of what ADB environmental strategy is proposed and appropriate at
the local, sectoral, sub-national, national, and regional levels.
- list of comments, suggestions and recommendations to improve the draft PRES
and make it more relevant to the needs of PDMCs
- ADB environmental strategy that is complementary with PDMCs development
policies, plans, programs and and in harmony with other donor agencies' thrusts
and priority programs.
- one government official each from the Planning or Finance Ministries or
Departments of PDMCs
- one government official each from Environment Ministries or Departments
of PDMCs
- one representative each from the different donors/development partner-agencies
working on environment in the Pacific
- one representative each from CROP member-organizations
- one representative each from selected NGOs and other concerned organizations
